This First Responder on scene first aid course is an emergency

pre-hospital care course aimed at individuals who want those extra skills or work in an environment where they may need to provide immediate emergency care, such as Fire & Rescue, Police, Military, Search and Rescue, RLNI, Lifeguards and security staff including close protection. 

 

Our course ends with a half day of scenarios using actors from the casualty’s union. Recreating real-life situations as closely as we can. Using full make-up and all the equipment you have learnt to use previously in the course. This hands-on approach ensures you’re well-prepared for the challenges you may face in an emergency situation.



The qualification is category C on the FPHC PHEM Skills framework:

Nationally certificated pre-hospital emergency responder (use of airway adjuncts & oxygen).

The 4 main components of the course are:

 

- Scene safety and patient assessment 

- Responding to life-threatening emergencies

- Responding to illness and medical conditions

- Responding to injuries


The types of conditions you will learn about: 

- Dealing with catastrophic bleed management

- The correct use of spinal boards and scoop
stretchers to immobilise and transport a patient. 

- Airway management

- Oxygen use 

- How to work with a team to treat a patient.

- The knowledge and skills relating to scene safety and patient assessment.

- Life-threatening emergencies, illnesses, medical conditions and injuries.

 

Pre-course knowledge is not essential but desired. 


This qualification meets and exceeds all of the requirements of the Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work.

 

Category C: Nationally certificated pre-hospital responder (use of airway adjuncts & oxygen) eg Community First Responder
